Sheri Comried is the owner and hands-on Executive Director of Mother Goose Early Learning Center. Prior to purchasing MGLC,  she worked in Sr. Management for 15 years at GE Capital, Vendor Financial Services. She has always had a passion to work with young children, and in 2000 when her first grandson was born, she fulfilled her lifelong dream when she purchased MGLC in Cedar Rapids, IA.

As her program in the Cedar Rapids facility grew rapidly, and the high demand for quality early learning programs grew, Sheri decide to expand her business to Hiawatha in 2007, where she built an 8400 sq. ft. early learning facility.

Sheri feels very passionate about teaching young children social responsibilities through community service projects. For the past 12 years, she has partnered with several non-profit organizations such as MDA, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Tanager Place, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, hosting non-profit fundraising events supporting children's charities. Community service efforts also extend to the Salvation Army food bank through non-perishable food drives each year, The Tanager Place, and Waypoint Shelter for Women and Children. Staff, children and their families at MGLC participate in these events, encouraging community giving and the spirit of helping others.

In 2007, the Women Entrepreneur, a networking group in Cedar Rapids, IA, awarded Sheri the Outstanding Entrepreneurial awarded for having gone "above and beyond with her businesses and in the community."

Sheri serves on the Kirkwood Community College Early Childhood Education Program Advisory Board, and was the Membership Chair Person for the Cedar Rapids Chapter of Iowa AEYC. Sheri is also a trained evaluator and consultant for the Quality Early Childhood Environments program through HACAP, where she has volunteered her time to help other ECE programs improve the quality of their programs that care for children, birth through 5 years of age. In 2010, Sheri was recognized for her valuable contributions as a QECE evaluator. She has devoted the past 20 years to teaching children, birth through pre-kindergarten years.

Sheri and her husband Jim, have been married for 43 years. They have a daughter, Shawn Rife, who has followed in her mom's footsteps, owning and operating Spartan Early Childhood Center in Solon, IA. They have two amazing grandsons, Jersey Joe and Mason James, as well as a beautiful granddaughter, Letty Skye.
